Star Denies Anti-Vaxxer Position After Voicing Disputed Pandemic Film
Liam Neeson has given his narration to a new documentary that casts doubt on the safety of vaccines and lauds one-time health official Robert F Kennedy Jr.
The Documentary's Provocative Foundation
Titled "Plague of Corruption," the documentary is based on a well-known publication co-authored by Judy Mikovits, who gained notoriety during the global outbreak for assertions that Covid was a result of a faulty batch of the flu vaccine.
The book's writing partner, the executive producer, has penned books with controversial radio host a known commentator. The producer wrote online celebrating Neeson's role in the film.
An Unequivocal Statement
The team of Neeson have issued a response firmly refuting claims that he subscribes to anti-vax views.
"We all understand that unethical practices might be present within the pharmaceutical industry, but that should never be confused with opposition to vaccines," the response reads. "Neeson is not, and remains not, anti-vaccination. His considerable work with the global charity underscores his enduring support for worldwide vaccination initiatives."
It added that the actor was not involved in crafting the documentary's messaging and that questions about its claims are best addressed to the filmmakers.
Central Assertions Featured in the Feature
According to the documentary, the script spoken by Neeson includes several controversial statements:
- It claims that pro-vaccine voices have insisted on "blind obedience" to health authorities.
- It declares that "research has become deeply influenced by politics."
- Robert F Kennedy Jr is featured claiming, "The core flaw with vaccines is that they simply are not adequately tested."
- It also criticizes pandemic restrictions, saying they caused severe distress that led to the loss of thousands of lives.
- On the topic of the immunizations, it cites a perspective that they were "hurriedly approved" and seen as "hazardous tests."
Past Controversy and Current Issues
The film also references a past television report about AIDS medication trials on children, which was later the topic of a formal apology by the network for unbalanced reporting.
In recent weeks, Kennedy called on the Centers for Disease Control to change its longstanding position that there is no causal relationship between immunizations and autism spectrum disorder. This supposed link is echoed in the documentary, even with a recent study from the World Health Organisation reiterating no evidence has been found.
An Earlier Statement of Advocacy
Differing from the film's message, Neeson has previously shown strong support for vaccines in his capacity as a Unicef global ambassador.
In 2022, he called vaccines as "an incredible triumph," noting that "The discourse about vaccines in lately has forgotten how much benefit they have done... It is perhaps one of the biggest human endeavors in human history."
The film ends with Neeson's voice saying, "This isn't the conclusion of our narrative. It is the dawn of a new chapter."
