Nigel Farage Accuses Educators of ‘Indoctrinating Children’ on Race Issues

The political figure stated that educators would initiate walkouts within weeks a Reform UK election victory, accusing them of “harming young minds” by instructing students that black pupils are victims and white children oppressors.

During an event for a Michigan-based religious institution, the politician expressed his perspective on the UK education system, stating that the “radical left-wing” had “taken over schooling”.

“I expect a teachers’ strike very quickly after winning the next general election,” he remarked during a Q&A session.

“They are corrupting young minds. They instruct children to be ashamed of their country. They are telling an eight-year-old black child that he is oppressed and little Oliver, who is white, who is eight that he is an oppressor. They create division, instead of fostering unity. They promote this harmful mindset.”

In response to these assertions, Daniel Kebede dismissed the idea that the schools were under Marxist influence as “nonsense”. Kebede noted that industrial action must relate to teachers’ terms and conditions, and questioned whether the party would target these right after taking office.

“The politician has crafted his public life on coded rhetoric and currently, similar to other figures, he is lining up teachers and their organizations for a fight,” Kebede stated.

“I think that’s grossly irresponsible. Neither I nor our union – advocate such divisive theories as he’s suggesting … Should he become prime minister he would sell out our public services, including education … and the outcome would be catastrophic for students and learning.”

Reform, which tops surveys by about 10 points, has not set out much detail on its educational plans and seems not to have appointed an education spokesperson.

However, his comments indicated the group would reform the educational framework. He said: “We have got a massive job with education – truly monumental. And, we can’t do it in six months or a year; it will take us years, a long-term effort to reform.”

He stated that younger generations are receptive to critical thinking, but millennials were “absolutely hopeless”.

Paying tribute to Charlie Kirk, Farage said: “My goal for schooling is to foster independent thought – to educate individuals that there are two points of view and they should decide for themselves as opposed to current practices where views are labeled good or bad. This is a huge undertaking in both Britain and America.”

The party has conflicted with the UK’s largest teaching union, after Kebede called the party “extremist and prejudiced” and dismissed Farage as “a cheap imitation”.

Farage has accused Kebede of being “a self-declared Marxist” … an individual intent that young minds be corrupted through education, their minds should be poisoned about everything to do with this country” and has argued that the union is trying to indoctrinate teenagers against Reform.

Almost one million people work in schools in the UK, with educators comprising half and the remainder being assistants and administrative personnel. The leading teachers’ organization has hundreds of thousands of members.

Countrywide walkouts over educators’ salaries and work environment in recent years led to significant interruptions in educational institutions and extensive missed instruction for children.

At the US event, Farage also vowed to promote the online educational material of the Christian college in the UK. He stated such groups were “key to resistance”, noting: “I mean this. I will help attract vast numbers of young people to these educational programs. I pledge this tonight and I will follow through.”

The institution, a religious educational establishment, offers free courses. Its website states: “A scientific, literary, theological, political, and moral education is vital for well-being and to maintain the benefits of civil and religious liberty. It offers these excellent programs for free to all who wish to learn.”
