The Life Cycle of a Movement is often defined by distinct phases.

1. The Core Concept

An inspiring figure or leaders introduce a new and transcendent idea offering a solution for disconnected individuals.

And so it goes. Preparations are underway to storm the compound overseas. The gunships are circling. Smoke is rising from within. A lone figure, vulnerable, nervous, the slogan POSITIVE INTENT displayed prominently in chicken blood, has stumbled from the field and is being led away in secrecy towards an inconclusive loan stint elsewhere.

Do you ever miss the start, when the world was still young? The initial phase, of pure instinct.

2. Initial Adoration

Movement founders promise a reboot, a brighter tomorrow, camaraderie, salvation among a group with shared faith in the big idea.

What did it represent initially? Players celebrating basking in glory. Body art. Forearms. Determination. Peak performance vibes. Oh sure, The squad will claim they don’t use the label, ironically as it’s denied, what exactly did I just watch?

Yet it’s clear what it is. It’s Harry Brook playing a shot so depraved it defies description. It’s the thrill of the captain in ultimate mode, a demeanor suggesting: thoughtful warrior, strong features, untamed style, genuinely raw you wouldn’t be surprised to look down and notice he’s fielding in the field bare-chested holding a fish.

It’s the opener continuing to have permission addressing the media, appearing as a joyful figure in a waistcoat, uttering phrases such as we are actively deconstructing the orange. Certainly, the energy, for a significant period, was entirely positive.

3. Expansion Period

Building period. Cohesion maintained by rote learning of mantras. These principles may seem irrational as a test of “true belief”.

Does anyone else feel? The criticism, the outrage, the disappointment following the initial loss seems too strong, too much. England batted badly on the field, as is typical there. They were torn apart defensively for a couple of hours when tactics failed, outplayed by the opponent playing aggressively but smarter, adaptive to conditions, a man playing with brilliance.

Currently, we see the pile-on, the rage, the view of the sport as a kind of abomination. The feeling seems to be that defeat must be total, they need to lose righteously, to be scoured, destroyed, overwhelmed through sheer skill of the pace attack, the simple basics of Scott Boland, seen enjoying successes with a bashful smile similar to getting a pleasant gift. How will they respond?

4. External Conflict

Issues emerge due to setbacks. But the cult cannot admit errors. It starts to feed on hatred of the outside world.

The fact remains, half a week out the upcoming game, we’ve entered an intriguing moment in the journey of this thing. They might succeed in Brisbane in a blur of adrenal disruption. More likely, failure may follow. Should they fail it appears we really might be entering the decline.

Ahead of this, there are two things to note regarding this. Previously, at the start, of optimism and energy, I wrote an article suggesting Bazball was a cult. People were very angry, which proved the point since it’s clear the best way of proving that it’s not a closed group is should followers react defensively objecting to the questioning of its truths.

What has happened recently are fascinating. It seems that hating Bazball has turned into a movement. Social media is furious, disappointed commentators, pictures of upset supporters abroad disappointed by the short match, reminiscent of investors demanding recourse.

On the other hand, there is the broader context of the opponent’s mixed more culturally hard-wired exasperation towards the unconventional visitors, stating, your cherished traditions and have developed as part of your identity culturally from us, it’s not serious ultimately.

And this is the real point. It’s all cults. The approach was a phenomenon as the game has its own culture. Or at least, the sport in England is closed, a group, an elite gathering, an insular community with centuries of tradition and mystery supporting it. Historically, this was where influence is guarded. It’s the imperial sport of the nation, the pioneering brand. And notably, the country is a phenomenon, a system of unknown levels, a monarchy still exists.

The team have been sealed up within this world since childhood. In trying to escape from it, to build a better atmosphere, they are mirroring their upbringing, forming a new circle, an exclusive group, however with 15 cool guys and a mentor encouraging individuality as long as yourself is quite a lot like myself.

Focus on the moment. Run towards the danger. Despite efforts, things stay similar.

Reflecting on this, it is perhaps the moment to show understanding for the approach, to acknowledge its merits, of which there are many. How to define it? Encouraging expression. Questioning traditions. Batting aggressively|Attacking with
