Warrick Stock, who went by the name DJ Warras, was shot and killed in the central business district on Tuesday afternoon.

Authorities reported the 40-year-old media personality was approached by three individuals, with one began shooting at him before fleeing on foot.

The purpose behind the shooting is unknown and no suspects have been apprehended have been made, as per the official statement.

Details of the Attack

Authorities indicated that Stock was ambushed as he was departing from a premises in the vicinity of the Carlton Centre.

He had devoted time at the building overseeing the setup of safety equipment, which had been illegally inhabited by squatters, according to reports.

"Authorities believe the victim was confronted by three unidentified men after parking his vehicle, and they opened fire at him before fleeing the scene on foot," a police statement said.

Security camera video reportedly captured a individual with dreadlocked hair and clad in what looked like a security uniform shooting on Stock before making his escape.

The DJ tried to run away after he was wounded but collapsed across the street.

It was further revealed that Stock had an unused firearm and nothing was taken during the assault.

Key evidence, like spent shells, were recovered from the scene.

"Evidence suggests they walked a long distance after the attack, and investigators have been attempting to locate them to find their whereabouts," added an official.
